Piebird’s Kissing Booth Beets. Open Pollinated.

The tender, sweet, deep red-burgundy foliage is great in salads and soups. These beet roots are best when harvested at the 2- to 3-inch size. Some heat resistance.

Planting Instructions:

Set up your kissing booth in the full-sun. Plant kisses half inch deep. Thin to 3-6 inch.

Direct sow in rich, light, moist soil when the soil has warmed in Spring. In full sun or partial shade plant 1/2” deep, 1″ apart, in rows 12-16″ apart. Germination occurs in 5-17 days in Spring soil. When the beets start to come up, thin to 3-4″. Keep well watered, especially during root development.

35 days for young leaves, 60 days for root.

Traditional heirloom name: “Bull’s Blood Beet”, an Old French variety introduced in 1840, famous for it’s mild and sweet flavoured burgundy leaves.
